Thank you Al!
Can`t wait to use the snowblower instead of the snowplow. China parts have still not arrived yet. Lets hope it will not drag out to end of May which i the end scale of the delivery estimate. In that case it will not be tested till next winter. By end of May all snow is gone here, even in cold Norway

Today I rebuilt my trusty Integy 65t lathe motor.
Surprised it works as good as it does since it`s 18 years old and been to badword and back. This was installed in my CC01 which was more of a submarine than a vehicle. Sometimes mud too. It was dirty and grimy so it everything was cleaned and new brushes and bearings was installed. It will receive new wires down the line.

First package from China arrived today, the screws.
All the machine screws needed I have in my parts bin. This package contained 2 and 3 mm self tapper, and self tapper counter sunk. Switched out the mockups screws. This is how the underside looks like. Auger motor will be sitting in right corner and the I soldered the impeller wires today with bullet connectors so I can switch rotation if needed. Will also fit bullet on wires between auger motor and esc. Bearings will be bought this week and hopefully the GT2 belts and pinions will arrive soon along the flange couplers. Can`t do much before those arrives. Weighted the snowblower as it stands and with the 3d print parts still needed. Just now that is 778 grams. The reduction gear motor for the auger is 295 grams and I guess the other bits is 50 ish grams. So final weight will be 1150grams ish. Not light!! May need a servo actuator or make my own. Either althread, nut + motor or 3d printer lead bolt and nut + motor. It may be ok with the servo speed module I`ve ordered, but it if hits ground like a sack of potatos like now I need to do something. Great I do like thinker with things |

Test fitted the augers yesterday.
Still waiting on the flange couplers so this is how far I can go for now. I`m toying with the idea to fit a impeller kit (rubber flaps to the 3 fingers that makes the impeller). Either 1 or 2mm rubber mat. This will make the snowblower throw further. Impeller kit is very much recomended on real snowblowers. Hinders them to clog up even with wet snow. Going to order these lights, cheap and small (12x11mm) and scale looking. These are made by GRC and it ment for SCX10 but can be fitted to anything. Plan is to fit on on either side of shute to light up the snow being thrown. Might fit my own leds if they are too weak, kit lights tend to be weak..

Not much snow left now.
This was Thursday and it has been 12-14C every day since with sun. During the week the gears and belt for the impeller arrived. My mate who printed mine is also builing one, hence the extra parts. Visited my LHS on Thursday and got the last parts needed for the snowblower. M3X8 cap screws, 3x8x4 and 8x22x7 bearings, 1060 esc, 18kg Power HD servo for the steering on the truck (current one is very weak) and 2x Hackmoto V2 35T crawler motors. No idea what to use the motors for, but they were on sale for about 10 bucks each. I hoped the last package with the flange couplings would turn up yesterday, but no luck. They was already at the sorting central the 16th, so should been here. The others that also arrived the 16th at the central is already delivered, including the cob lights I will use on this that I ordered a week after all the other parts. Now the package will not arrive till Monday or Tuesday so snow will be gone by then. Luckely there is a small ski resort 30 min away from me. I hope snow is still there in a weeks time so I can test this snowblower. That will be the last chance this winter/spring.

The last package for this has still not arrived. It was at a distribution centre the 16th, and two other packages were there at the same date. Those turned up no problem a few days later.
Next post delivery is on Friday so I hope it will turn up then. Been working on the truck the last days. Changed the steering servo for the 18kg Power HD, good and strong, but a bit slow. Also fitted the 1060 esc that will control the snowblower itself. Motors on the snowblower and shute servo now works from the transmitter. One would belive 7 channel receiver would be enough, but the channel 6 and 7 only sends data and power. Useless to control a esc. So channel 3 is now for the snowblower esc. Channel 4 is for lifting the snowblower. Channel 5 is for turning the shute. And since there is no channel left, this also now controls the emergency ledbar on truck roofs. So with each rotation of the shute the blink patteren on the ledbar changes. Think there is 7 different ones. The lift servo that I don`t know name or brand of, but is about 20kg, now struggles to lift the snowblower. Infact it will not lift it up all the way. So either I need a stronger servo, or direct power it if it can tackle 2s direct power. Should be a bit stonger. Now the light on the truck dims as I lift the snowblower. If that fails I will attempt to make my own lift motor. Need a sturdy motor mount, a 120t crawler motor, a Lunchbox pinion, a 8mm coupling nut where the Lunchbox pinion will be fitted to one end of that nut, and 8mm bolt with long shank. The shank on that bolt will be trimmed so there will be a pivot hole in it. Then I need to make some sturdy brackets to the snowblower and lastly link the shank end of that bolt to the snowblower with some links like the links that now holds the snowblower. That is my idea anyway. Changed the front tires/wheels, turned out they rubbed hard on the steering knuckle. Robbed a set of Hyrax crawling tires from one of the other projects. Dismantled the center set of wheels as I have new tires coming. There was 2 set of different rear tires in the rear. The single one was one left of some tires I bought 10 years ago on a other project. From this project infact. Picture is from 2016 The 3 other tires are, one set new a couple of years ago and the last one is remains of same type tire after the other one exploded. Never seen that before but due no went in tire and difference between hot and cold temps it exploded. Ripped apart several places while standing on the shelf. Wheels are old Axial 1.9 beadlocks with a extra bead added to widen the wheel. Tires look too skinny without them. Should probably invest in 6 new 120mm Hyrax tires, but not gonna happen for a while. Now only if the flange couplers could turn up so I can make it complete and test it!

Tracking of the China packages (letters) is a mess.
But if my suspicion is right the letter with the flange couplers went through the customs yesterday. Hopefully it will be here sometime next week. The pair of tires I ordered came yesterday. Even they are of the snail slime compound (very sticky), these was white ish and dry. I guess they are old stock. After I ordered these there was 1 left in stock at 50%, I ordered that as well. I washed the tires with dish soap and they was still white ish. The tire on left is lubricated with Maguiars Leather And Vinyl Protectant. Lots softer now and smells nice. Tire on left is not lubricated and just washed. The working lights also arrived. Plenty bright! Looks good and was easy to put together 1.2mm screws! Needed magnify glasses for that! |

Norwegian postal service is c..p atm.
Waiting on several things like the flange couplers. There was no post delivery this week. The postman was probably sick, So no more progress till next week. But I did fit the second set tires I ordered so now all 6 are the same... On Monday I went on house viewing and that was on route where the ski resort is located. Not much snow left, just hopes all is not gone by the time I get to complete the snowblower... |
