Look what the Mail man brought me ! 1 month 2 weeks ago #82578

This one actually does bring a few memories back for me as we had limited number of kits available in person in the early 80s but my dealer could "order" anything out of a magazine or catalogue. He had a couple of these on display and he would put different kits next to this set as a package, sometimes Kyosho kits! :) I remember counting it all up then pricing out everything (mainly Futaba) and comparing the two. Although expensive, I do recall this being a bit of a bargain for its one stop shopping packaging. Not sure if he sold a lot but I measured its cost in "lawns mowed" and ended up buying things one at a time. LOL

I still can't believe there is one that's sealed Todd, really cool time capsule and def wasn't owned by a kid like me!!!!!

Great story! Funny you mention being next to kits as a package, because the two other pics I could find on the interweb both show them with a kit :)

Such a cool piece and can't believe I forgot about seeing this way back when. "Shiny object" world of a 12 year old (with no money) I guess!

Thanks for posting those pics.

Probably not the clearest photo, but a Renault Mk 22 body arrived the other day.
The reason for buying it is because the one I already have hasn’t got the complete engine moulding at the back.

But the new second body has some damage at the front.

The plan is to make one good body out of these two.

At the minute I’m thinking about cutting the nose cone off the yellow body and attaching it to the white body which has the complete engine.

Thats what I was thinking as I looked at your pics, nice clean place for a break and an easier reattachment.

Just don't saw off both in the gap (so you don't loose the detail line) - cut the white one forward of the line & the yellow aft of it. You'll have sand one off completely later, but it doubles your chances of getting it right :)

BTW what are we thinking happened to the yellow one? Butchered so someone could fit a heatsink? :S

Cheers Jonny thanks for the advice.
I think the yellow one reversed at speed into something or got hit by something. That’s the way it was when I got it. Luckily it was one of those I was happy to sit on, so I think I got lucky getting the white one.

This is more of a catch up, but here you go.

The Renault Mk22 body shell and rear wing which will become part of an cut and shut resto.
The RC Channel SRB rear end metal kit, this takes the camber out of the rear axles.

And a big thank you to Jon ( Jonny Retro ) for the totally brilliant calendar, many thanks again Jon !!!

As for the RC Channel parts I’m planning a Ford Ranger build for next year, but I want the rear tyres to sit flat on the ground as the real truck would be.

Something not included in the photos is a  spare Porsche 934 body from the 50th anniversary model, I’m sure it’s not unique.
Plans for that at the minute are an alternative livery, or just collect dust ??
The rear wing sets have sold out already from TTP so I’m waiting for a restock in the new year.

Brilliant Ranger kit! This was the biggest disappointment in the whole kit I agree and cheers to finding a solution!
