This one is going to be quite the transformation for sure. If it can be done, you'll do it.
Love to see progress in a restore thread?? Nice! |

Time for another update methinks:
Another cool new Classic inspired motor from G-Force: A first edition re-re Brat plated chassis! Some of the new 40th Mini goodies: I had one of these on my Blackfoot BITD, with aj's foam tires and gold MB wheels, and plan to recreate it! And I adopted this project that I will make two projects from: And then this little gem today!I'd never seen this before and I can't find any info about it - but when I stumbled across it I just had to have it! Oddly enough, I was the only I know it's just a cheapy radio set, but I really wish it wasn't wrapped because I'd love to check out the contents but feel bad about opening this one (for now . . .) A Google image search reveals the Tx seems to be an unbranded ACOMS TECHNIPLUS. If anyone has info on these Power-Pak Systems or personal experience - please share your story! It's got Item 58999ST with 1994 on the box: IG_tamiyaddiction

I'm pretty sure the Power-Pak is just the radio gear, as I show in the last pic - no actual R/C kit included. IG_tamiyaddiction

Intriguing, I've never seen an unbranded Acoms set...
I don't believe for a minute that's a genuine Tamiya product, if it was it would be a rebranded Futaba. That shrink film is a bit of a double edged sword, it stops the pilfering that was apparently such a big problem As there's no second language on the box I'm thinking it has to be from the USA, my guess is it's going to be some sort of regional importer/retailer. Is the bottom line on the end an address? The only bit that's clear in the photo looks to be "CA", can you match it to a Californian concern of the time?

So it's an official Tamiya America product - not _quite_ the same thing as being an official Tamiya product
TBH I've never been clear to what degree Tamiya America being "wholly owned" by Tamiya, Inc extends to governance or oversight, if at all.

I thought Tamiya America was an importer of Tamiya goods and the address and time period check out, but what do I know. I still think it's a cool little piece of history and wasn't really thinking we'd get caught up trying to authenticate it's existence, but rather someone might share a memory of seeing these on hobby store shelves, or even purchasing one BITD. But, there really isn't a large US audience to reach on this forum. IG_tamiyaddiction
