Time to dust off the Wild Willy Nativity scene again ... if I'd thought of it earlier in the year I would have made some changes/upgrades (black visor on baby, retire the angel & with it that awkard to site spotlight, actual sand etc on the floor, fit some sort ot background & sides) but TBH my time would be better spent on tidying up - wide shot shows it's not getting any better in here

Today I collected the remaining of rc parts from a mate who used to be a factory racer for Kyosho here in Norway back in the day.
I got this very cheap. This AE transport bag is 65x50x35cm and contains one big cardboardbox with 3 cardbox within. First box. Only wish it was a YZ-10 in this box.. Inside it was decades of stickers and some paint.. This haul contains one rc, HPI Mini Recon (1:18). Going to sell this as I have no use for it. In this box no 2 there was also a pair of brand new sub mini servos Box no 3 is what is useful for me... First 4x Kyosho pit towels. Two chargers Battery jig, mini drill 12v, soldiring iron, 4x new Kyosho Countach Scale front wheels new and 2x pink antenna tubes. Containers with stuff Shock oil for days! 2x containers with round bottom and one container with battery shrink wrap and welcro. Those containers fits motors very well! Finally some place for my motors to rest.. And last but not least. This gem! Tamiya calculator. And it works!!! |

That's a really nice haul of RC gear. The YZ-10 was one of my favourites - lovely car. Even the empty box has nostalgic value. And that collection of motors looks great. Brilliant stuff.
I'm still trying to find the energy to start my Rough Rider project. The Chronic fatigue and joint pain has rendered me practically useless for the last few weeks, but your scale garage and new hobby room has been really motivating.. Hope you're well.

Been working on Flo`s old Boomerang...
Because it looks like this on the outside! The itch to drive on snow and ice is too much to ignore. Remember fondly wipping around mates Bigwig and Thundershot on snow and ice in the 90s. Most fun was Striker with Technigold on hard packed snow after traffic. Hoped to get it ready today, but things took longer than expected... Tomorrow rebuild shocks as they are sticky and clean and grease rear gearbox as it runs too heavy for my liking. The motor had dry brushes when I test drove it in the hallway, WD40 fixed that but I think a motor swap is in order. |

Cleaned the rear gearbox and regreased it, installed a Kyosho 21t K-Speed motor as it matches the colors on Boomerang.
Rest of spec Orginal msc Acoms receiver controlled by Futaba Attack R Servos from parts bin 4000mAh 2s lipo + lipo alarm. Also rebuilt the shocks with fresh o-rings, greased hinge pins, replaced a pair of bent ones, cleaned drive cups, lubricated bearings and cleaned dogbones. Then it was time to have some fun in the -8C weather. Fun it indeed was! Runtime was approx 25min, cut short by 5 min due to locked servo one way. Might just be snow, but time will tell. Evidence Capri the cat that is mostly a indoor cat now due a terrorizing black cat a few doors away and due to his senior years, decided he wanted to go out with me and sit and watch as I drive my car. He even followed to the mailboxes a driveway away before we returned home So very happy with the outcome. Just need to WD40 every exposed metal so they don`t rust. Had a few inferences while driving, need to find betterreceiver or swap to 2.4ghz. |

I had a problem that the right side of front diff was skipping on the Boomerang.
Flo also had this problem. In short, the orginal C clip made the drivecup wander in and out so there was a slack that made the sidegear to not have enough pressure. Fix was simple, replaced the C clip with E clip and the slack was gone, The diff is now tight and fine. Propeller input is running free which tells me there is no additinoal pressure on the diff bearings. Also had a bit inferenze with the Acoms crystal receiver, so for now I replaced it with a 2.4 Losi receiver. Now I`m ready for some snow fun tomorrow Have fatigue today so the run will be tomorrow instead..
