Something I’ve been tinkering around with, or the slow build, “ build “. I had a bunch of parts kicking around so I’ve been picking up a few missing bits to make another chassis. This one is almost a roller. When I get some time I’ll see how much more I can do, with what’s in the spares boxes. The plan was to put an ESC in it, partly because the mechanism box is broken. At this point I’m trying to finish it for as low a budget as possible. The body is probably the biggest issue, I’m wondering if I can fit a Mountaineer / Toyota high-lift body. Attachments: |

I've never had the privilege of owning/building one of the 1st gen 3 speeds but I know building the newer ones doesn't get old. LOL
It will be interesting to see if one of the newer bodies fit right. Since its just for fun, maybe a Chevy Blazer body with the Blazing Blazer roof wing???

Had a notification from Modesport that the Honda City Turbo '25 was back in stock, looked at it did show "good stock", but then I thought about it & decided in a rare moment of self control that if I already had two unbult HCT '15s and an unpainted HCT '25 then I didn't really _need_ need another one
I looked again two hours later and they were showing as "on order". Not sure what would have happened if they were still showing as in stock.

Today I finally got to drive my HPI Savage X 4.1 again!
If I have not driven it since last time I updated here in this thread it`s 6 years and 8 months since last time. Engine was free and fired right up afer cleaning out the tank and use new fuel. Sadly EU rules has changed what fuel can be used, before I used 30% and it was dead easy to tune the Force engine. And it drove like a scalded cat! Now EU had changed it to 16% and it was a lot of fine tuning till it ran right. Only thing I had to change was the one way bearing as it would not turn the engine. Drove 30 min to my basher spot and ofcourse the Nimh battery I charged yesterday was dead. So home I went. 1 hour later and my 2s 4000mah Gens Ace round pack was ready to be fitted to the Roto Start 2. Earlier today I had to buy the starter shaft as it had gone missing between the 7 years and 1 move later. Sadly no pictures as I was too keen to drive I have ordered steel spur gear from ebay to go together with the hardned racing clutch bell I bought earlier this week. I also have a second X 4.1. The Roto Start backplate on the motor has the bolting corners broken off so it`s not secure to the motor anymore. The orginal Roto Start is discontinued and expensive. Luckely the Roto Start 3 unit, which is current part do still fit the old Force engine. Together with that the starter shaft V3 is also needed. Don`t know what is different between this and the old one, but HPI says so... When I buy those bits I can also run my second X 4.1 as it`s complete. Just hopes the one way is good on that one. If memory serves me right that engine is not fully broken in yet so plenty of life left! It also has a hop up tuned pipe as the first one. Might be pictures tomorrow if I run the first one again |
