Jonny, although I haven't been following this I've just had a quick glance over out of interest, reason being, that like a complete numpty I decided it was too cold in the shed for fixing the 1/5th & got stuck into my Cheetah. My chassis is complete & seems to work well (Did that ages ago but got put off by the state of the body). I've spent all evening digging out milliput & plasticard to find out exactly what's holdimg it together (Not much, loads of bits now!). HOWEVER, I was sensible enough to buy a whole pile of cheetah body crap at the time & I appear to have 90%ish of it (Most needing repair though) with tons of leftovers, nearly another body, I suspect. SO, if you're missing anything, gimme a shout & I might be able to help out.
Love the doors/infils idea, those shells really need something like that.
Has anybody ever seen one done in the italian livery shown in the manual? - I've only ever seen beige ones & cheetahry ones. Thinking about lella for mine, or maybe kermit

Ta :) Parts B13 (the bar with the diapragm horn that fits between the front of the rad & the inside of the body) & B7 (the beam that fits in front of the rad on the outside of the body) would be nice to have, but what I really need is part G2 - the gearbox rear cover.

I have - & I didn't like it  Looks worse than the "harlequin" special edition VW Polo & Golf from a while back - & that's saying something  Shame really because the Italian flag has great colours, it might have worked on a 1:1 Cheetah, but in 12th scale it looks like a poor quality toy :(

These are pics a saved from teh interwebs, probably mostly TC but I wasn't expecting to share them & I didn't make notes, so I can't give proper credits:

Looks good in black:

Also in dark olive - but probably a bit too much like the XR311?

I like it in yellow too:

I'm baggsying red for the one I'm (in theory  ) working on ATM, but this one gave me an idea ...

... not so much the mid green, I was thinking more of China Blue & a white roof ...

Got 1x B13/17 assembly unpainted & in reasonable condition, just slight damage to one of the uprights of B13. Only got 1x B7 that's attached to the teeter shell. Looking around at stuff for home part casting at the mo, & if I can come to some conclusion with it before putting the good shell together, I'll have a go at copying the good B7 for you, assuming you don't mind repro parts? Haven't got a spare gearbox cover, but aren't they the same as XR311? - there's a pile of XR311 stuff (Including kits) just appeared on Ebay, so maybe you'll have some luck with it there? If you PM me your postal address, I'll stick the B13/17 in the post for you.
Yeah, don't like the italian job, like the olive green, not 100% about the yellow, maybe it's not quite JCB enough....

Ta very much - the B13/17 combo would be very useful :)

I don't really have anything to trade though - I have a pile of manky chassis fasteners & it's possible I'll have a few chassis bits left over - though I have to warn you, out of the the 5 incomplete wrecks I had, and the best bits getting used on the 1st Cheetah, 2nd best getting used on the XR311, and 3rd best on this Cheetah, pickings will be very slim indeed :( Probably irrelevant though as your chassis looks done already.

I'm not worried in the least about repro parts - in fact the B7 beam I'll probably just fake with a few layers of styrene sheet - I can copy off the one on the bile coloured beastie - & that'll be the least of the car's worries, originality-wise :D

re the G2 part - yes, the XR311 chassis is identical apart from the bumper, the way the front end is bolted on making it a little longer & the front torsion bars being the same length as the back ones to make up the difference ... I have been looking on eBay, but TBH I'm still hoping for a cheaper/easier fix than buying a whole wrecker chassis/car or buying new parts ;)

Nah you can have it, not after anything in return, just hope it helps. If you've got enough to copy, B7 doesn't look too bad for a "make one", & it'll be easier than trying to cast it. Casting might be another option for the gearbox cover.
Just thought, I AM short of a rear tow hook, first aid kit, the small bit in the middle of the bonnet, an axe & a hairy driver's head (Got 3 helmetted ones & was gonna have a go at carving some hair on), so if you have any one of those bits spare for swapsies I'd be eternally grateful

Sorry, I haven't got any of those - apart from the bit in the middle of the bonnet - for this project, let alone any spares :(

Nah, that's ok, just thought I'd ask, on the offchance... Just finished making a new blade for my shovel, & gooling the 15 bits of rear rack back together.
Do you know any tricks for making cloudy clear bits clear again? (Someone filled the headlight lenses with glue) - first thought was to give them a wipe with celly thinners (Usually works getting scratches out) but I'm not sure that it might be a bit too aggressive for the fine detail in them.
Had a thought earlier regarding some of the missing bits - wondered about scanning the parts list page of the manual, then import it into CAD, scale it up & print it - then I'd have some templates to make stuff to! I'll maybe look at that tomorrow.
What would be really helpful though, if you could take a pic of the thing in the middle of the bonnet & give me a measurement to scale it by, that would be handy
