I thought I was nearly there ...

... but no, some nasties have appeared on the back end & will need sanding out:

Progress continues, very slowly ...

Rear end got sanded (below), and reprimed ... hopefully today I'll give it a very light tickle with 2500 grit wet & dry, ready for some actual paint ...

Roof is just about finished, I used XF-69 NATO Black:

There are still flaws in the filler/primer, but I've reached the point where each attempt is putting in as many new ones as fixing old ones, so time for the first coat of colour. I promised this really is VW "Mars Red" - not "Flymo Orange", all appearances to the contrary

Got the 2nd & 3rd coats of red on ... and it's still refusing to look anything but orange :pinch:

The weather forecast doesn't look that promising for getting the clear on ... maybe Tuesday :)

I like the color, doesn't look that bad. I once bought a can of silver, my surface was perfect, and when I started spraying, it turn out to be gold spray paint... The car turned out gold in the end, and I typed a nasty email to the paint company. Got nothing but an apology, but at least they replied....

Perhaps I should clarify - it looks red IRL, but it the photos it keeps coming out orange.

Re-jiggled the decals from my last Cheetah - making the number plates 1/12 scale, mostly

Transfer paper arrived:

Multiple sets printed on both clear & white paper ... obviously I don't need them, but as they need clearcoating the rest of the sheet would be waste anyway ...

Working on the window templates, and - woohoo! - the bodywork actually looks red in this shot :D

this one isn't going so fast

Underguard was never going to look that good, so I bought a re-re XR311 one ... months back I think it was :silly:

Anyway, in anticipation of getting the bench grinder/polisher out to do the ally parts on my Frog, I dusted off the metal chassis bits & gave them a preparatory wet sand with wet & dry paper (400 & 1200)...

Machine polished the bits the other day ...

But it does tend to leave crud behind ...

So I did them by hand with Autosol ...

TBH it's been so long since I started this I'm not clear on where I am with this - I'll have to gather the scattered bits together & work out what needs doing
