...
I spot a possible mistake...
3rd January 1977 was a "New Year's Day Holiday" in the UK in 1977, so the post office would probably not have been open? :P

Oops ... corrected now :)

A bundle of OO/HO scale figures arrived ...

... some of them looked like possibilities for a scale Hula doll ...

Arms modified & chopped in the middle to change the angle ...

... & make the fitting of the "grass" skirt easier:

After paint & fitting a lei (2.5mm OD styrene discs) ... I know it doesn't look that great, but it's less than 20mm (3/4") tall & far too fiddly for me really.

Moving on to the various box shaped bits under the load bed ... first a couple of support/blanking panels, held in with a bit of extra bracing:

Starting on the boxes themselves, fake fuel tank for LHS & control box + who knows what for the RHS:

She is perfect, nicely done B)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Fuel tank etc sanded (including a bit of shaping), detailed up & fitted:

Looking at those pics it does strike me that it needs some mudflaps on the front arches... off to eBay for some thin rubber (not silicone) sheet it it then :)

I've also got to install a bit of studding (aka "allthread") through the tube on the top end of the loading bars - it looks too much like a handle & I just know someone's going to lift by it at some point, and it's marginal whether it can take half the weight repeatedely.

In other news, the two amber beacons (which always looked a bit suspect if I'm honest) will require a bit of rework as they both failed when I tested them - the first one never lit up at all & went "poof" as soon as I connected it, the other one only two of the four LEDs worked, and then only for a few seconds

I've ordered some 5mm orange LEDs described as "flickering" rather than the regular on/off flashing type, and I'll wire them via the same switch as the rest of the lights (every cloud etc). While I'm waiting for them I can have a crack at a speaker cover.
