With the death of my Pumpkin Lowride, this is the only project I have going at the moment. Really - although I have a reasonably full "ideas" list, there's nothing else unstarted or part finished, hidden away in boxes, and as I've had up to a dozen in the pipeline before, that's a bit of a shock.
Anyway, detail painting of the loose bits has so far been in dull colours, so I cheered things up a bit on the front of the cab by fitting the chrome 10mm headlight LED bezels, and doing the grille lettering & surround in aluminium tape |

Working on the "glass" - flat clear airbrushed free hand on the door & side/rear windows, masked wiper area on the windscreen:
Body - details painted, washes applied (black, hull red, dark grey, depending on location); door transfers, lights & bear fitted: Still wondering if I should have gone with the purple ... Rear lights: Wiring needs more work: Working on instrument & number plate transfers: |

I finished/tidied the wiring last night, fitted the remaing transfers & got the interior in & it all worked fine on the bench - but as as soon as i put it on the floor it kept cutting out ... I'm not sure if it's low battery voltage, radio interference or a wiring fault - battery is on charge so I can start investgating...

Hmm, that didn't help...
Indoors I had erratic/runaway behaviour this time, outside that didn't happen but a lot of other things did... LEDs seem to work all the time - the power for them comes direct from the battery (rather than from the ESC), but they're wired via an electronic switch so that would suggest the radio side of things is fine ... except for all the other random problems: Most often the sound AND the drive cuts out - which suggests any of the TX, RX, wiring from the RX to the sound module, the sound module itself, the wiring onwards to the ESC, or even the ESC itself (the radio power supply side anyway) could be the problem. This also the first time I've used trhis particular variety of cheap metal gear servo - so I can't rule that out either. There's also been a new wrinkle today - sometimes just the motor cuts out (the sound module keeps revving), suggesting there's also a problem with either the motor side of things on the ESC - or the motor (sticking brushes?). I'll get to the bottom of it, but it's a pain |
