RXed the latest Tamiya "Catalog" today - and I really do mean "latest". For more than ten years I've been pre-ordering it as soon as I could, and would, on average, get it the third week of Feburary. This year, it' was a full five weeks later

This lot turned up today. The front end of an XR311, some Cheetah tyres, Cheetah driver figure, Rough Rider rear tyres and roof. The battered XR311 box does contain an immaculate pair of original tyres. The Cheetah tyres after a good clean should hopefully look good, they have a good amount of tread on them. Even the Rough Rider tyres look good, they barely have any wear on the tread, again hopefully they’ll clean up nicely 🤞 The XR311 front end I’ve already dismantled and if nothing else will be good for the original hardware. The main chassis part is absolute toast at the engine end so is destined for the bin. Attachments:

I have pre ordered the Mampe Zakspeed Capri from Time Tunnel Models.
They have the cheapest cost incl shipping I`ve seen so far. (£129 for the Capri) Even with tax it`s cheaper than buying it here. I got a offer to buy one throught the Norwegian Capri Club, but I turned it down because it was too expensive for what it is. |

This turned up today, Tamiya’s 50th anniversary Porsche 934. Inside the box, maybe not as special as we’d have hoped for, I was expecting a blister pack section, but I guess it’s mostly plastic. Ideally I’d like to find an alternative to the wheels and preferably the tyres, it would be great to find something with a bit more tyre wall to match the box art. If anyone has any suggestions let me know, cheers. Also what would be a suitable motor to put in this ?? So not a silver can 540, something a bit special or at least befitting. It’s a lot of plastic and a big bag of fixings and metal parts inside the box, spotted some bearings !!!! For the record it’s no. 02339. Pre-ordered through TTP, brilliant service, thanks Antony. Tires on the Porsche is around 65mm tall with 1.9 wheels.
The racing truck has 70mm tires mounted on 1.55 m chassis size. To me that is too much rubber. RC4WD do have a solution, 1.7" low profile truck tires. They are 73mm tall. Problem is finding good looking 1.7" wheels which btw is what Tamiya Cup Racer uses. There is minilight look wheels in different offset, but no BBS ones. Vintage Tamiya might be 1.7. Can`t confirm as I never owned any of the vintage on road cars. But I do agree the boxart tire/wheel combo look a lot better than the low profile ones. Edit: I looked at the wheel database and 58001 934 wheels are 36mm high with f/r tires being 50/53mm tall. So a lot smaller. But might look better.

I found a other Mammoth locally. Needs some TLC on the body, missing most of the railing and a part of the generator. Of course the previous owner didn't get the plus one unit to work so he took it out, I have an extra one somewhere.... The drivetrain is like new, not a scratch on it!
