Cheers, funkindemup. Plan is to make this one as off roadish as possible... Don't think a DF-01 will ever make a real crawler though. But it should be pretty good for trails through the woods and such. Locked rear gear diff and a ball diff in front. Smallest pinion of course. Indeed the rpm is about the same as that of a silvercan so top speed would be similar. Calculated it at around 20 km/h. Zero degrees timing should make this CR Tuned very controllable at low speeds... And it looks good with the rest of the car too. |

Sure that the ta is not a crawler. But it is a very good chassis for the off road enough heavy duty. |

I'm using buggy suspension arms in combination with on road shock towers...
Not an official setup but the only (DF-TA) way to create a stadium truck Humvee. Have not gotten to the point in this project where I could use the big wheels yet though (not enough clearance). Turnbuckles are on the front of the shock tower since there isn't enough room for the regular spot (the other side)... So I'm using several spacers in order for the shocks to move freely : I was using a single 9mm spacer before, which was a bit too much really. Gone back to a total of 6.5mm this time. That makes the shocks line up nicely with the suspension arms and offers just enough clearance for the turnbuckles. Screw that goes through it all is a bit too long (and possibly too weak) and may need (a titanium) replacement. Origin's from an F chassis (3x32mm) at the moment. Gotta work with what you got... Also a couple of titanium screws to hold down the piece of blue alloy ("J10") that fixates the damper plate : The top of the Yeah Racing shocks is mounted way too sloppy for my taste so that's been spaced out with some spring discs... Another step ahead : A good DF-01 eye will see that something's not built by the book.
Warning: Spoiler!
I've flipped the C hubs around for better alignment of the turnbuckles...

Somehow i like to picture this entire setup with a handfull of nice shiny VA hex screws instead of the standard tamiya and titanium's.

Yeah, it's a bit of a mix and match when it comes to the screws but I'm being practical on this build.
As long as it works and looks okay... I'll abuse the car soon anyway. Gonna use the slop free bathtub chassis here. Keep the plates for a drifter (that'll need a lot more parts). There's more blue to come (even more than before)! |
