ok, the aluminium rods are slightly too big to fit through the hole in the gearbox mount, but its only 0.2mm bigger. i can buy a 4.2mm drill bit so i guess enlarging the hole by 0.2mm is not going to be a major issue?

Don't think that would be a problem in itself...
Not sure you could find such a small drill that's long enough though.
Sanding it to a slightly larger diameter might also work.
The difference doesn't seem to be much.

ive tried a 4mm drill bit through the hole and it is just long enough to go right through. i may try putting the rod in a drill and spinning it up and running some emery cloth round it. cant be hard to lose 0.2mm off it. its worth a try

Good plan. Definitely worth a go.
I was just thinking that it would probably work after I had a look at half a gearbox.
They were bigger in my recollection...

SUCCESS. 5 minutes in a drill with some 320 wet and dry and it fits perfect :woohoo:

...

Has it got a number on it? ... TBH I'd expect it to be "472", which means it's a 0.0047uf / 4.7nf capacitor ... try this:

turn on the TX, then the RX, then wack it up to full throttle and its ready to run?
