The TF-Shaftbag is still avaible and even cheap. Also they are very small ;)

I scored a couple of Terra Conqueror shaft bags before (which I prefer)...
But a link to a cheap TF bag would also be great.

Ok, at my "local" traders it is cheap

Maybe i have to tell them, that they have to sell there stuff at ebay :)

I think in germany is currently a real r/c hype. I've found a r/c store in every bigger town here. Also a special one about 1:6 cars. We have here 2 Cup-Tracks. Dirt and street. Also some spots where different kind of r/c cars are driving around. I'll make some photos, when the weather is getting better.

Yes Edou, can't see a problem with making them, but I think we'd better concentrate on the bits that aren't cheap or easily available for now.

Liking the idea of 74gbp for a set of zero-effort CNC machined bits (Don't get me started!)
but I would've thought that's waaay beyond what anybody would be willing to pay for some, let alone after adding a profit margin (Or maybe I'm wrong & it's the best get rich quick scheme I've ever heard of).

What sort of money do we think people think is acceptable to pay for one of our "basic" kits & one of our "Full alloy" kits?
I'd personally say 50gbp for the 5-off sets of 6x posts matey did was incredibly cheap (I think I said 40gbp estimated for 1 set of 6 posts, before refining a production method). Unless I could find a really quick/easy way of pumping them out, I wouldn't want to be doing them for 50 for 5 sets - how much did you get for them? (If you don't mind me asking).

Anyway, tool steel is here for making up some special tooling, I've just got to repair 3 laptops (By which time it might've warmed up a bit) then I'll get back on to making toy car bits

well i can get the 6 post done by machined at £30.00 that`s 5 pounds each still a lot of money when i have brought some for 15.00 pounds few years back wish i brought more now  but the guy that done my 5 set were ok but not perfect. how much are you going to sale yours for? how are you going to do yours by u self? (eddrick) or (waterbok)

They're neither but there's certainly no hurry. ;)
I can always use tapping screws instead...

Thanks for the trouble, funkindemup. I knew that they had them before but must have recently sold out.
Tamico isn't very interesting for my country unless you place a big order (high basic shipping cost).

:(

Edit - on prices...
I could personally maybe justify about 15-20 GBP for the basics.
But I suspect at this moment an auction on eBay for a handsome set could (easily?) double that.

ok, pricing of the parts, now dont kill me, just letting some figures go thru the grey matter, but the 19405430 Tamiya Avante 2011 Metal Parts Bag costs 16€ and contains 4 usable parts so I would think for starters 3€ for 1 piece. but the trf501x battery post cost 6€ 4pcs makes 1,50€ for 1 bit. Our full set contains 14 parts (the damper mounts not included) so price estimate lowside 20€ for a set up to max. 42€ to stay realistic. otherwise it would be almost cheaper to score a used TF. To realise a certain quality and such prices the parts will have to be made on a CNC i think and in a certain amount. :pinch:

Nobody (As far as I can see) can make the parts in small quantity production runs for those prices. You have to remember that the Tamiya CNC plant probably took an hour to produce the files & set up the machine, then pumped out 10,000 items in one day. The stuff for sale is essentially shifting old stock, & you're paying for material & packaging only (Manufacture cost is negligable due to CNC & high quantiy produced)

For a run of say 100 sets;
Cheapest option will be to find a hobbyist with a CNC lathe.
Next cheapest option would be to get a CNC machining company to do a "sensible batch" (Say 1000 or more pieces) & hope they all sell to get your money back.
Next cheapest would be someone like me doing a few here & there manually.
Most expensive would be to get a company to manually machine a small production run.

For the first set of 6 bits I did, I think I estimated there was about 40gbp's worth of work involved, & quoted something like "& who's gonna pay that for them?!"
This was based on a one-lot run.
Knowing now that there's likely to be a lot of people wanting them, I've thought about (& am still thinking about) how to produce a lot more & quickly, with suitably less effort that I could get the price down A LOT. However, I'm a hobbyist & could never compete with a large manufacturing company such as Tamiya, so my bits won't ever be as cheap as theirs (looking at it in a "What would it cost ME to make that" way).

I think the thing to do is to run off a few sets, bung one set on Ebay & see what money it makes, then base a sensible price on that. I'm not greedy, but I'm not planning to do it for nothing either - the time I spend doing 1 thing is money lost not doing something else that might pay better
