Nice! I'd go black on them btw... ;)
And what about a 23T motor for the tarmac racer maybe?

is this what i need to buy? its the cheapest i can find on ebay and will my pinion gear fit it ok?
thanks

My experience of Ansmann motors - I bought several different winds (I think a 15, 17, 20 & 23) as they are a very attractive price - was a poor one :(

The things spin much slower than you'd expect & have almost no torque ... in every case I put the silvercan back in temporarily & bought something else.

I had heard some good things about them though - low weight & low drag (which certainly applies to your tarmac beast) seem to be critical requirements.

Your pinion will be fine - they're 3.1mm shafts like the standard 540 :)

I don't doubt Jonny's experience with these motors of course but I have the exact same 23T on my Grasshopper and for parking lot racing at least I have to say it does a nice job...
I don't think they'll last many runs because you can almost see the dust from the soft brushes rise from the car.
But it runs nice and smoothly without too much external resistence...
Got some Lrp S10 motors here at 8 euro a piece that should also be a good quality but I haven't put them to the test yet.

Well, my experience was definitely one of "buy cheap, buy twice" :(

The Tamiya Sport Tuned 23T would be my choice - a genuine 30% increase in speed/power but can still be run on a Tamiya ESC and/or with stock gearing. For the

Looks like a nice motor - from a brand I'm usually very happy with myself.
Feedback on RcMart is positive too...
Specs I could find : 23.200 rpm and 16,5A max drain - more than 100W should give a good punch.

Which is exactly the same as the Clash 23... could it be they are the same motor with a different label?

The Rpm figure looks good, very skeptical about the current draw though ... and I'd really, really want to see a torque figure, given Edou's hypothesis :S

If budget allows, I'd either go for the Sport Tuned or this one from Team Orion for example :

Shipment is a bit steep though (I think)... but it's rebuidable! B)

@Edou - What about HPI Saturn/Firebolt motors? I'm not sure if they do a 23T, but they are also of the "silvercan with a label on" type ... I've used a 35T & 55T & they both did what I expected speed wise, but the torque seemed lacking :(
