shocks temporarily built, no seals or oil in yet and bodged some washers on the bottom to support the springs, tops were painted, the bodies heat shrunk. perfect fit for the lunchbox springs and less prone to scuffing than paint.
they feel a lot stiffer than the standard shocks even without any oil

Well done. And speedy! :cheer:

Could you measure the length of the Lunchbox springs? Think they might be longer...
Might be a bit hard but that's good for on road and you don't need the spacers then.
Don't think the oil will make them much stiffer. That's more to damp the vibrations.
Btw - they're not the same callitwhatevers after all :

the lunchbox springs are 75mm
trouble is i was hoping to use the oil dampers on the off road hopper as a hop up and use the standard shocks off the hopper on to the on road hornet.
i think i am confusing myself again now.....time for a beer!

I'll check the length of the Manta Ray springs...
Still waiting on Louisbaby's parts but I suspect I we'll get a long way to hop up both your cars with oil filled shocks. :cheer:

Apart from an exact matching lower mount (youknowwhatsies) I'd say an oil seal and some oil.
Possibly some spacers on top of the (shorter) spring...

Manta Ray springs are 65mm long. The ones for the front are soft and the rear has a medium setting.
Or that's what I would call it at least... :side:

im sure i can find some oil that will work, what oil seal is missing?
as far as the bottom widgetythingies and spring base mounts i reckon i could make something up to fit.
i could try them with no oil to start but that kind of defeats the object.
experimentation is the answer to technical setbacks. so Einstein says :silly:

what oil seal is missing?

It goes on top of the oil and under the cap - BE3 :

some oil that will work

Maybe jack oil...
Don't see any single bottles on eBay at the moment. That would have been convenient.
