I think you can attach the lower end of the shock with a normal 3mm tapping screw then... :)

work with the bottom spring mounts

Which ones do you mean exactly? Those from the Hummer?

the ones you sent me!

Could you give a closer definition of 'bottom spring mount' then?
I thought you meant the disc that keeps the underside of the spring in place...

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the optional mount that fits to the gearbox, like the adaptors i bought but the proper hornet ones

I had forgotten about these.
But are you planning for the second car then already?
Otherwise I'd just use the modified mounts...
Can't tell for sure but it looks like you could also screw them right onto the original shock mount.

But I guess that'll be a thing of trial and error. Hopefully without the error. :silly:
You could also (maybe better) use a normal screw instead of a tapping one btw...

the shocks you gave me wont fit on the original shock mounts at the bottom, they are too wide. i need the extendy bits. i want the new shocks on the hopper but i want to fit the hopper shocks onto the hornet with the extendy bits too.
confusing time again

I catch the drift now. ;)
Again I possibly see a spacer as the solution. Often works for me... :)

righty then.....wheels satin black (well, one of them so far, the rest are in progress).
tires arrived today and the new shiny front shocks (thanks wifey  )
next questions, do i need to glue the tires on the rims. if so with what?
i need to make a top mount for the front shocks, any ideas? im thinking the same U shape bracket as on the bottom but upside down? if it will fit!!!

Oh my, the wheels look great! :woohoo:
Depending on how hard the tyres are, you could glue them with CA - superglue.
But I didn't have a problem myself with this kind of setup without doing that...

Let me contemplate on the shock mounts - they're also very good looking btw. :)

the shocks are adjustable on the springs and they come with shorter bottom mounts to make the entire length shorter but wont fit still
im gonna have to get my engineering head on for this one! :S

First idea that pops into my head is a shorter and/or softer spring.

I'm gonna give my Hopper a complete overhaul at some point...
You can have the Super Hornet suspension arms if you want. That'll give an extra bit of length... :cheer:
They came from a used car and were superglued to the chassis so one has a bit of material missing - works fine however.
But it might lend itself towards some restoring too...
Another advantage of these parts is that the lower end of a shock fits straight on.

Good idea with the U-shaped mount for the top btw.
I'll check the manuals if maybe parts from a Super Fighter G (or similar) will fit.
Those parts should be easily available. :)
